Writers' Conference Scholarships

Through the generous support of our sponsors, the Fernie Writers’ Conference Society offers scholarships for each conference session.

Scholarship Deadlines:

There are two deadlines for scholarships for the 2011 Conference.

Scholarship Round 1 - April 30th, 2011 - Round 1 scholarships are no longer available.

Eligibility for Round 1 Scholarships is now closed - If interested please apply for a Round 2 Scholarship.

Scholarship Round 2 - June 30th, 2011 Round 2 Scholarships range in value based on availability, merit and need as evaluated by the judges. This can include full scholarship as well as partial scholarship in all categories including 5 day, 3 day and youth workshops.

Scholarship Round 2 Application Process: To apply for a Round 2 scholarship please include the following:

1. A one page cover letter including:

  • The session for which you wish to be considered.
  • A summary of your writing history and/or experience.
  • An explanation of your need for scholarship.

2. A sample of your writing in the genre of the session for which you are applying. Include all relevant contact information in your application—mailing address, phone number, email address. Please email your application to info@ferniewriters.com by the required deadline date.

  • Scholarship winners will be notified by email or phone.
  • The decision of the judges will be final.

Note: Recipients of Round 1 scholarships are still eligible to apply for Round 2 scholarships. Scholarship applications are now being accepted by email at info@ferniewriters.com in the above format as long as funds are available.

Round 2 Scholarships range from $150 - $650 based on availability, merit and need as evaluated by the judges.
