Panel Description:
The Author in a Digital Age
The publishing industry is in a period of flux. The increased emphasis on e-publishing and e-marketing mean radical changes for writers, publishers, and readers. According to amazon statistics, e-book sales are gaining on (even passing) those of traditional books. Increasingly, writers are expected to use social media to market their own work. Will the growing preference for e-books and the increased dependence on social media change the way writers write and the way they interact with audiences? How? What are authors doing to adapt? Has the job description of "author" changed? What input does the audience have on the new developments in writing and publishing? Come for a lively discussion about the future of writing and reading.
Panel Participants:
Robyn Read, Warren Cariou, Angie Abdou
