Songwriting from Scratch
Course Description:

(prepare the soil, plant, water and enjoy the harvest)
Getting started can be one of the most difficult tasks in songwriting. And it’s also one of the most important because if you start well, you’ll have a lot less trouble down the line. This workshop will focus on techniques for creating from zero, developing a song from a word, an idea or an image. We will explore ways to attract the muse, capitalize on your strengths and find your own unique and original voice. An exploration of co-writing and the benefits of that union will be discussed. Proficiency on an instrument is desirable, but not necessary. This is songwriting to connect your heart and your head.
Course Preparation:
Useful tools to bring with you include writing pad/journal, pencil, thesaurus, rhyming dictionary, musical instrument. Also a cd or mp3 of a song that resonates with you. A short questionnaire will be sent out with your registration package.
